Depression in its various forms is a serious illness that is now very treatable. Depression is not a whim. People who suffer from depression do not choose this state willingly.
Depression or depressive moods manifest themselves, among other things, through
- Dejection
- Listlessness
- Lack of interest
- Helplessness
- Lack of motivation or listlessness
- Despair
- Feelings of inferiority
- pessimistic thinking up to brooding
- Feeling of inner emptiness up to numbness
- decreased desire for sexual contact
Thoughts of suicide may also be present. It is not uncommon for people suffering from depression to experience concurrent physical symptoms such as insomnia, fatigue, lassitude, heart trouble, loss of appetite, or headaches, among others. All these sympotms lead to a significant impairment of one’s own quality of life, but also that of relatives, friends and acquaintances.
In the clinical-psychological treatment of depression, positive resources are sought together with you so that difficulties can be better overcome, or possible psychological and/or social causes are worked on. The goal is to gain more quality of life by overcoming psychosocial difficulties as well as improving your physical condition.
